Cosmic Cow Artist Scott Plaster is Artist of the Week
in the Community Arts Cafe Magazine

Scott would describe his most recent works as whimsical. "I think that one reason for creating art is to get people to look at the world around them in a different way. I try to highlight my subjects in a way that makes them look "more than" their surroundings. I try to give the animals character, and people often comment that they can relate to the animals they see in my works." GREENSBORO - Scott Plaster's artist eye couldn't help but notice the cow. It stood alongside the Blue Ridge Parkway, looking so out of place as cars whizzed by. Plaster snapped a photograph. Someday, he knew, he would paint that cow.     The Cosmic Cow Society will hold an Art Talk event entitled "Finding a Voice: The Role of the Arts in Personal Expression." The panel discussion will feature guest speaker David Hammond of Guilford College and Cosmic Cow Society members Cass Catlett and Scott Plaster. The event will be hosted at the Multipurpose Room at the Community Center on Friday, March 27 at 7pm. The event is free and open to the public.Full Story

    In a day when our community is bemoaning the effect of the economy on the local art market, one local arts organization is implementing an innovative approach to connect with the community and public. The Cosmic Cow Society is launching an "Art on Loan" program that will allow local businesses to host the best work of its member artists in its public spaces.     They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, but that concept could not apply more than in the collage "stories" of Perry Boswell. These unique collages of Davidson County native and teacher are part antique, part history, part memorabilia, and part artistic creation. Boswell will be discussing his work at the Cosmic Cow Society's first "Art Talk" in downtown Greensboro on February 13 and will be featured in a one-man show at Asheboro's Circa Gallery beginning February 27...Full Story
